Research Goals

The Foundation for Heart Science is dedicated to advancing solid scientific research in areas that hold promise for heart health, including non-conventional studies. There is research in areas such as pre and probiotics, cognition and even music that hold promise for advancing heart health. Currently the Foundation is focused on the following goals:

  • To advance research on the recently discovered link between intestinal microbiota and the severity of injury from a heart attack
  • To understand how radiation causes direct and indirect injury to the heart
  • To identify medical therapies that will mitigate radiation injury to the heart
  • To identify the key genes and proteins responsible for susceptibility to heart attacks in acquired heart disease
